There’s a quiet shift happening. What once felt like distant “what ifs” is starting to feel much closer to home.

Changes in climate and seasonal patterns are no longer abstract—they’re showing up in the land, the water, and the rhythms we live with. Even large systems like the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation and the El Niño–Southern Oscillation across the Pacific are already in motion, shaping weather, seasons, and land in real time—reminding us that change isn’t something to prepare for someday, but something we are already living through.

At BROOMHILL, this isn’t something we talk about in theory. It’s something we meet through the soil, the seasons, and the way we grow food and gather as a community.

Rather than trying to control what’s changing, we’re learning how to work with it.

Adaptive resilience, for us, looks like growing food in ways that support the soil, creating systems that can handle variability, and building relationships that help us stay connected and supported through change. It’s practical, hands-on, and always evolving.

And it’s something we can do together.

If you feel the pull to be part of this—whether to learn, contribute, or simply spend time on the land—you’re warmly invited to join us. Our volunteer sessions, shared on the Living Calendar, are a simple way to step in. No experience needed, just a willingness to take part.

It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, learning as we go, and responding to what’s already here.

Because even now, how we show up still matters.
